Ella bound

Ella is one of the leading tourist attractions in Sri lanka. Ella used to be a small village lies in the middle of Ella- Wallawaya road and in the present it has become a place with fancy hotels, restaurants and bars. This is because of its tourist attraction capability. This is mainly because of the scenic mountains, glamorous waterfalls including Diyaluma, Dunhinda and of course Ravana falls and because of so much other stuff which will blow your mind.

One of the main reasons people choose ella as their destinations is the train route. Of course Sri lankan railways in the middle part of the country lies trough some magical view points. 'Nine Arches bridge' is one of these, which lies in between Ella and Demodara railway stations.You can reach to nine arches bridge through various routes and it is one of the reasons Ella is this famous. That is why we chose this to be our first destination to hit at Ella. A walk from Demodara to Ella on rail is one of the high points of this journey and the rain sure makes it interesting.

Then two of the most famous places in Ella is of course  the 'Ella Rock' and 'Mini adam's peak'. Ella rock is a birthplace to many interesting stories relating to 'King Rawana'. These stories tells us that this used to be the underground kingdom of King Rawana. There are various paths to the top of ella rock and now these paths are much easier to climb because a lot of tourists and locals usually visits this place.
People tend to climb Ella rock mainly because of the magical view from the top and the beauty doubles by the magnificent Rawana falls falling towards it.


'Mini Adams peak' is the other hiking experience you can get when you are in Ella. The path lise throug a tea estate and the hike only takes about 30 minutes to get to the top. you can see a vast distance from the top.

Tourist attraction is mainly focused on these two hiking experiences. To get the best out of these two hikes you need to go early in the morning as the sun comes up. This is because you can climb with ease and walking in the mist is an incredible experience.

Talking about Rawana falls it falls carrying its own unique beauty which you must see with your own eyes. Rawana falls has two parts, the upper part and the lower part (Bambaragama falls) The stories tells that 'Seeta' the wife of 'king Rama' used to bathe in the upper part of Rawana falls when she was at hostage of  'King Rawana'.
Apart from all beauty some parts of Rawana falls are very dangerous to have a bath because above 30 deaths have occured in the last few years.

Bieng a pretty much crowded town specially by tourists places to visit in Ella does not end here. There are a lot of places to visit not much far from the town. Some of them are 'Rawana cave', 'Nil diya pokuna'(Blue water lake), Demodara loop and the list goes on. And talking about Nil diya pokuna (Blue wate lake) visitors should go inside the caves with a well known tour giude or else you will be lost inside forever.
